The high power laser shafts infiltrate the skin to break the ink particles which prompts blurring of the tattoo. The procedure is innocuous, and just focuses on the pigmented skin. A wide range of tattoos can be expelled utilizing the laser tattoo removal strategy; be that as it may, dark and darker hues are simpler to evacuate. Is there any harmful effects of laser tattoo removal treatment?

There are several reasons why so many people have tattoos these days. For some they commemorate a special event or act as a tribute to friends or family members, while other people want to express their passions or simply appreciate a stunning piece of art. But there may come a time where you regret your tattoo and getting it removed is the only option. Laser technology is the most efficient and effective way of going about this, but it is natural to have questions or concerns about the side effects, some of which will be completely unfounded. Read on to find out the true laser tattoo removal side effects…
Frosting
During laser treatment, your skin will naturally turn a frosty white colour. This is caused by the carbon dioxide being released as a result of laser penetration and surfaces on the upper layer of the skin and usually only subsides after twenty minutes.
Blistering
During the removal process, the laser will heat up ink particles in your skin, which can cause tiny blood vessels to break around the tattoo. As a result, superficial blisters containing water and ink may appear. In fact, blisters are quite normal and an indication that the healing process has begun. They might not look too pretty and could be tender to touch, but blisters should take between 3-14 days to heal up completely, providing you don’t burst them!
Scabbing
Yet another sign that the tattoo removal is working, scabs often collect fragmented ink particles and usually appear 8 to 72 hours after the area has been treated. When the scab falls off, the top layer of ink will come with it. Picking at or peeling off scabs can increase the risk of scarring, so however tempting it might be, try to avoid this. A lot will depend on the size and location of your tattoo, but most scabs will disappear within two weeks.
Swelling
Our body’s natural defence system will react to things like illness or infection in a number of different ways. But while swelling usually occurs after being bitten by an insect or twisting your ankle, it can also happen after undergoing laser tattoo removal treatment. The heat from the laser will catalyse swelling, but just like any other type of swelling, this will go down once your immune system realises there is nothing wrong. If anything, be grateful that your body is alert and aware of potential dangers.
Discomfort
While a lot will depend on your personal pain threshold, it is fair to say that the majority of people will experience discomfort to a certain degree. The level of discomfort also depends a lot on where the tattoo is located; tattoos on more fleshy areas of the body will hurt less as the flesh acts as a cushion, whereas tattoos on areas such as the wrist, feet, face and fingers could make you wince a little more than if your tattoo was on your thigh! When laser tattoo removal first came to market, it received a bad reputation for being incredibly painful. But patients who have received removals from the latest and greatest PicoSure laser have said discomfort levels are up to half that of alternative treatments. In general, the discomfort is commonly compared to an elastic band being slapped against your skin.
Itching
Again, this should be seen as a good sign, as your immune system is kicking in and starting to heal the affected area. An itching sensation is common, but just like any other type of skin irritation, you must try your hardest not to scratch the area. Scratching could impact on the effectiveness of removal. You may also break the skin and create a wound, which will lead to additional scarring or risk infection. Generally, you should not apply creams or lotions to the area, but if the itching is unbearable, ask your laser operator for advice.
Scarring
Given the technological and medical advances in laser tattoo removal, permanent scarring is rare and occurs in less than two per cent of cases. If scarring does happen, it usually isn’t that noticeable and can be minimised with Vitamin E oil or over the counter silicone patches. Just make sure your skin has fully healed from the treatment before applying cosmetic products. In order to minimise the chance of scarring after treatment, drink plenty of water, get enough sleep each night and quit cigarettes if you happen to smoke. These measures will boost your body’s immune system and help the process of pigment elimination and skin repair. Also, try to avoid direct exposure to the sun, as ultraviolet radiation can harm your skin’s pigmentation and increase the risk of scarring due to greater sensitivity. Keloid scars, which are raised, thickened areas of skin can appear up to 3 to 6 months after treatment, but these are very rare.
Hyperpigmentation
During laser removal, pulses of different light wavelengths are used to remove the tattoo ink. However, it can also affect your skin’s natural pigment or melanin. A consequence of this is known as hyperpigmentation, which are essentially patches of darkened skin. This condition is typically seen on people with darker skin and active tans which will usually resolve itself. However, there are cosmetic products available to help even out skin tones.
Hypopigmentation
Conversely, hypopigmentation is where your skin’s normal pigmentation has been removed. As a result, lighter patches of skin will be visible where the tattoo once was. It can sometimes take months or even years for your skin’s pigment to appear normal again. For some people, it may never be the same. However, both hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation are bound to be more tolerable than the actual tattoo.
Infection
Seeing as laser removal treatment doesn’t actually break the surface of your skin, the risk of infection is low, especially if you follow the aftercare instructions set out by the laser technician. The risk of infection is increased if you burst blisters or pick at scabs, so avoid both of these. In the event of infection, contact the laser technician or your doctor.
Muscle soreness
Laser tattoo removal does not generally affect your muscles, so this side effect is uncommon. But a lot will depend on the treatment area and you could develop a little bit of soreness. If it feels tender, you can always apply a cold compress of ice or a pack of frozen vegetables from the freezer wrapped in a clean cloth. Applying ice directly can burn your skin while muscular pain relief products like Deep Heat shouldn’t be used.
In Summary
Even though there are quite a few possible side effects to laser tattoo removal, most of the aforementioned issues are uncommon with most patients. What’s more, if problems do occur, the majority of them are treatable or not too distressing.
Just remember to follow the advice your laser technician provides before and after the procedure, as this will improve the treatment effectiveness and minimise the risk of suffering from side effects. In many respects, it is just like getting a tattoo, but in the end you’ll be left with unblemished skin rather than a permanent piece of ink.

How do I remove a permanent tattoo?

Over all societies, tattoos have been a method for articulation since antiquated occasions. Getting examples, images and even names inked on the skin resembles an opportunity of articulation, anyway agonizing it is.
Tattoos have turned out to be even more a trend as of late and everyone is by all accounts getting (at least one). While getting a tattoo can be fun, there are times when you do lament getting it. However, the awful thing about permanent tattoos Removal is well, that they are permanent. On the off chance that you truly need to dispose of that tattoo, here are a few hints that may come convenient.
Removal by laser
While expulsion by laser is viewed as difficult and costly, it is the most liked and normal method for disposing of permanent tattoos. It is the way toward uncovering the inked skin to a light emission which breaks the shades. The high power laser pillars enter the skin to break the ink particles which prompts blurring of the tattoo. The procedure is innocuous, and just focuses on the pigmented skin. A wide range of tattoos can be removed utilizing the laser tattoo removal evacuation technique; nonetheless, dark and darker hues are simpler to remove. Different hues may require various sittings yet in the end can be blurred totally.
How it works
Laser tattoo expulsion as a rule alludes to the non-intrusive evacuation of tattoo colors utilizing Q-exchanged lasers. These particular wavelengths of light are focused on a specific region of the skin and gets consumed by the ink. Thus, the tattoo ink breaks into little particles which are later dispensed with by body's normal sifting frameworks. The encompassing skin stays safe. Various shades of ink have diverse spectra thus the laser machine must be adjusted by the ink to be removed.
The procedure of laser tattoo evacuation may incite some agony thus a nearby soporific is utilized to lessen the distress. The span of the treatment for the most part relies upon the size and shade of the tattoo, yet on a normal 6 and 12 sessions is required to remove a 4-5 inch tattoo.
Plastic surgery
Plastic medical procedure repairs messed up countenances as well as can be a possibility for permanent tattoo evacuation. It is less excruciating and can be utilized to remove bigger tattoos. In this procedure skin joining system is utilized by the specialist to cover the tattoo permanently. In spite of the fact that it is utilized for extreme skin disfigurement, skin uniting can be utilized for tattoo expulsion. Skin joining includes evacuation of a slim layer of skin from a sound piece of the body and transplanting it to an alternate zone. It takes half a month to mend and as the new skin converges into the former one, the tattoo is secured totally.
Dermabrasion
This technique includes evacuating the permanent tattoo by scouring it off utilizing a coarse surface. In Dermabrasion, the tattoo is sanded with an instrument to remove the majority of the center layers of the skin. This procedure must be performed by specialists and might require numerous sittings for the tattoo to vanish totally. Additionally, dermabrasion is agonizing.
Salabrasion
This technique includes scouring the permanent tattoo utilizing a blend of water and salt particles until the skin surface of the tattoo ends up delicate. The saline arrangement at that point gradually breaks up the tattoo ink helping it to blur away. In any case, this is a protracted and agonizing procedure and might prompt scarring of the skin.
Chemical peels
Synthetic strip medicines are regularly used to decrease the presence of almost negligible differences and wrinkles from the skin. As substance strips influence the top layer of skin these aren't the most ideal route for expelling permanent tattoos. Be that as it may, a couple of sittings may enable the synthetic concoctions to arrive at the center layer of the skin and blur the tattoo skin. A few people experience substance strip treatment to help blur their tattoos before going in for laser tattoo expulsion medications. It's ideal to counsel a specialist before going for compound strip laser treatment for tattoo evacuation.
Hide it with makeup
The snappiest, least demanding and torment free method for evacuating a tattoo is to disguise it with cosmetics. While covering it with cosmetics is definitely not a permanent arrangement yet it sure is simple, modest and quick. It very well may be done at home. Spot the inked skin with a decent quality concealer pursued with an establishment that intently coordinates your skin tone. Mix well until the tattoo is totally secured and dust with free powder to set the establishment. As it's been said, no longer of any concern.

What does it feel like to get a tattoo removed?

Are you the not-so-proud owner of some regrettable ink? Well, welcome to the club. I have four (five, if you count the one on my back as two) tattoos from my late teens and early twenties that I could probably definitely do without. So this year I set out to do just that: get them removed.
If you've heard anything about laser tattoo removal, it's probably that it's insanely painful. I mean, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard, "Doesn't that hurt even more than actually getting the tattoos?" I'd be rich. (OK, I would have enough money to buy a medium iced coffee at Pret.) But while there's plenty of info on what to consider before getting a tattoo (and pages on pages of enticing inspo), there still isn't a whole lot of discussion surrounding the dark side of ink jobs: What happens if you grow to no longer love that little shooting star or random Latin phrase (ahem, see below)? I'm only about halfway through the process, but I've picked up plenty of tips along the way. So to do you all a solid, I put together a list of everything I've learned.
1. Consider a doctor.
I'd previously had one tattoo zapped at a spa (I was living in small-town Canada where there weren't plastic surgery offices or dermatologists), where an aesthetician used an outdated heat laser that ended up burning and scarring my skin. This time around, I'm having treatments done by John F. Adams, M.D., at the New York Dermatology Group, where everything is done under medical supervision. I suggest you find your own doctor by asking friends, editors (shameless plug), and even by stopping people that you see with removal in process—which, yes, I have done.
2. It will take months—if not a year or more.
Tattoos don't just disappear after a once-over with the laser. (I wish!) I've had six sessions, and I'd wager that I need about five more, despite the fact that my initial estimate was six to eight sessions. It takes a long time to complete because each time the tattoo is lasered, particles are broken down and digested by the body's immune system. The regeneration period is up to eight weeks, and the next time you go, the laser breaks down new particles of pigment. And so on and so forth.
3. It's expensive.
If you have your procedures done by a doctor, the bill for each visit can run you hundreds of dollars. Brace yourself: The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) estimates the average cost per session at $463. But see point number one for why it's worth it.
4. All ink can be taken out.
Contrary to the old belief that light, colored ink was hard to remove, Dr. Adams assured me that all hues will now disappear. (FYI: The previous explanation was that, similar to laser hair removal, the laser would solely be attracted toward dark colors, like black.) With PicoSure technology, he says you can even get out yellows and greens, which were previously the most stubborn.
5. Get ready for needles.
Mentally prepare for visits to consist of more than just a quick and easy laser moment. Mine have been taking about 45 minutes because we take before photos, clean the areas, inject them with lidocaine for freezing, laser them, ice them, and then bandage them. Oh, and sometimes a weird thing happens where I taste metal when the laser hits my skin. Dr. Adams says it's a sensation that some people experience when the lidocaine is hit by the laser and that it's totally normal…but also, I might be superhuman.
6. There's pain afterward.
And it doesn't stop when you leave the office. I would advise that you budget for discomfort for about a week. For me, the sites blister and need to be covered in a salve and bandaged for a few days; then they start to depuff, scab, peel, and regenerate. There is good news though: The more treatments you have, the less aftercare there is (since there's less ink reacting to the laser).
7. You'll need things like Aquaphor, bandages, and even clothes that don't rest on the tattoo.
Yes, I actually bought shirts that didn't have material where my neck/back tattoo is. At first, I was cutting tags out, but when tagless cotton tees still made the spot hurt and itch, I figured keyhole backs were a good investment. If you have tattoos on your ribs or feet (and like to wear bras and shoes) it might be best to plan your sessions accordingly.
It also helps to apply a thin coating of antibiotic ointment or healing moisturizer three times a day, like from Aquaphor, Lubriderm, or Kiehl's, for the first three days while the area is healing.
8. You could just lighten ink enough to go over it.
If you don't want to take your tattoos all the way off, you can simply lighten them enough to get some good cover-ups done. I have a friend who had a bird piece lightened enough to have a tattoo artist ink a lightbulb over the top. I thought it was smart because it meant her new tattoo didn't have to be heavy-handed (which I'm sure you think is very 2000).
9. Or take it all off, but there might be white patches or scars.
If, like me, you want your ink completely removed, you should know that the skin that is left might not be flawless. I'm hoping that reading this post will prevent you from having a tattoo removal turn into scarring à la numero uno. And while the risks are nowhere near as big when you are treated by a medical professional, your skin pigment can be lightened.
